The Girl With the Golden Locks

Registration for the 2023-2024 Drama Production is currently open. This year, there are 27 available roles to be cast. We are also extending opportunities for stage handlers and audiovisual support.

Practices will begin on Tuesdays and Thursdays initially, with the frequency of practices increasing to three times a week as the production dates approach.

Please be conscious of your commitment, as your attendance is essential, and you will be expected to participate in all practices.

FAQs

Who can sign up for Drama Club?

All Grade 7s and 8s can sign up for the larger stage roles. Grade 6s can sign up for supporting roles as well as backstage work.

How often and when is Drama Club held?

We have not yet finalized next year’s schedule however, you can expect practices twice a week for the first 2 months, then three times a week in the last month as well as two full dress rehearsals the week leading up to Opening Night.  Practices take place at school from 3:30-5:30 pm.

What if I miss a lot of practices?

We know that sometimes life throws us unexpected problems like an injury or illness and we can discuss how to accommodate that if that should occur. However, actors in lead roles must sign up with the expectation of attending all practices and rehearsals. Attendance expectations will be addressed upon signing up, and a consent form will be sent home for signature.

When will the next program run?

After a first year learning curve, we aim to host the production earlier in 2024. No dates have been decided yet. Stay posted!

Will Drama Club conflict with other activities?

There are many extracurricular activities at ÉDS and we know it is hard to “do it all”. We will adjust the dates to ensure the least possible crossover with other activities; however, we cannot guarantee that there will be no other activities going on during our program. Choose wisely to ensure you can commit to what you sign up for.

Do I have to be on stage to join the club?

No. There are many other important roles and duties that happen behind the scenes such as: costumes, make-up, audio-visual technology, advertisement, stage management. Look for postings in the school and sign up for what interests you.

What do you do with the money you collect from ticket sales?

In short - it goes directly back into the program.

Running a full production costs money. There are rental fees for equipment and costs associated with costumes, make up, props, etc. Any money we collect from the production goes into our Drama account to fund the next year’s production.

We look forward to a fabulous new production in the 2023-2024 school year!
