ÉDS Dragons Shine at MSEA 2024 Fall Provincial Finals

This past weekend, the ÉDS Dragons made an impressive mark at the Manitoba School Esports Association (MSEA) 2024 Fall Provincial Finals, showcasing their skills in Rocket League. Competing against the best middle school teams in the province, the Dragons left their fire on the field, proving why they’re a team to fear.

Six Teams, One Goal

The ÉDS Dragons entered the competition with six teams across two divisions, standing tall among the 24 middle school teams that qualified for the event out of 68 registered teams. The event featured thrilling matches in the AA and A Divisions, where the Dragons demonstrated not only skill but also remarkable teamwork and determination.

A Stellar Performance

The ÉDS Red Dragons (Eric P., Brennan K., Liam N., and Jake D.) blazed through the AA Division, finishing in the Top 6 and earning a coveted spot at the Esport Canada EDU Scholastic Invitational '24 Nationals. Similarly, the ÉDS Black Dragons (Isaac S., Everett H., Levi L., and Patrick B.) fought hard to finish in the Top 8 AA, also securing their place at Nationals.

In the A Division, the ÉDS Orange Dragons put on an incredible show, finishing as runners-up and earning the opportunity to compete on the main stage—a highlight of the weekend.

Celebrating Provincial Champions

Congratulations to the John Henderson Black Giants, crowned AA Champions, and the Bernie Wolfe Yellow Bisons, who claimed the A Division title. These teams delivered championship-level gameplay, setting the bar high for Manitoba.

Nationals Await!

The journey continues for the ÉDS Dragons as they prepare to represent their school and community at the Esport Canada EDU Scholastic Invitational '24 Nationals on Saturday, November 30th. More Than Just Games

The Dragons’ success at MSEA highlights the growing impact of esports in education. Beyond competition, these students are building critical skills in teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking—key elements that will benefit them in and out of the classroom.

Congratulations to all the ÉDS Dragons for their outstanding performance! Let’s cheer them on as they take their talents to Nationals and aim for even greater heights.  Thank you to the coaches Jodi Craigen, Ryan Hrabi, and Nathan Koblun, as well as all of the players, competitors, shoutcasters, and parents who made the event an amazing time for all!
